So some of you are probably wondering why I should even need to design my own gallery.
Is it because I need to show my own prowless as a webdesigner?
Not really, if there were the case, this would be the nth.0 version of my personal page.
If anyone has spent time reading the two paragraphs on my main page, this would not be evident.
Is it because I'm an artist and must show my own artistic prowless in the why my gallery looks?
Somewhat yes, but here are some real reasons, I find most galleries on the internet not suitable
for my purposes:
While they may look nice, it's not hard to see they are all similar.
Most of these pages contain a certain je ne sais quoi....they seem to scream, wide ruler paper and
big pencil. I'll approve of the use of such sites for editing purpose to speed up developement time,
what I don't approve of is using them in their original format.

While the results look great, it's not hard to tell it's a sample.
You know, why not put a kick me sign on your back. It's probably faster than downloading the template,
changing the content and uploading it to your ftp anyways.
So which is it? Are you an artist or a webdesigner?
Why not combine both!
Sorry to say, but if I where to model my site after one of these, I'd have to strangle my self and
cut off a few ears before I came up with a layout that would satisfy.
Or I could just copy one and change the colors....nice try if most of these galleries weren't
copyrighted. Even if the code was free, it still wouldn't be too great for my reputation when
someone randomly discovered what I did and posts rally like wild fire all over the net, eventually
leading to the arson of my inbox.
I want content. I want content now. Nothing to make the page load slower such as intros, with flash
an sound. I'm going to hit sound off, or skip anyway. Save this stuff for advertisements and
half-baked businesses please.
I would like nothing to obstificate actually getting to the content of the page. Inversely, I find
it interesting that such pages actually have less textual, or topic content than I'm actually seeking.
It's kind of a hint to not even bother.
Would Grandma be able to handle finding the tiny text that says "skip"? That's just as likely as her
being able to find "Ctrl +" in Firefox.
To be blunt, You're actually narrowing your audience; specifically to 8-25 year olds, mostly like with
some sort of gamer addiction and attention disorder.
Seeing as I draw for this category, that's fine. But I'm also pro traditional art as well, just with
less paint and less bowls of fruit.
Must I really elaborate on this point? ... most likely.
I am not crazy, but there's an odd assumption that most artists are.
I find there are these categories must choose,
High impact, with in-your-face graphics that take forever to load. Heaven forbid you don't buy a new
computer every year or use a Mac.
Emo/gothic, evrythign is black, grey or some other dark shade. If there is color, there's usally only
one or two in bright neon non-webfriendly hues except magenta and cyan (not that anyone cares about
that anymore).
Rainbow Diarrhea The image conjures up enough as is.
Minimalist I'm all for minimalism myself. I found the blaring of media needs a little zen. But
not to the point where you can't figure out what is going on with the page, or whether you've been
sucked into an echoless void. "Hello? ...is anyone there?", you receive no reply, most likely due to
the negative webtraffic that seems to gravitate there.
Pin ball machine, is an interesting one.
Depending on what year your browser was released,
you'll get a stratum of effects. I'd like to ask this person," What side of the browser war gulag fence
are on?" Neither, by either apathy or malicious intent, or worst of all, the evil neutrality.
